The Barrow Labour Party is among the oldest in the Socialist movement. It was founded on 16th October 1892 by the great national leader of the Independent Labour Party J Keir Hardie
Over the years as boundary changes happened it has expanded to now being the Barrow and Furness Labour Party.
The Barrow and Furness Constituency currently covers the County Council wards of Barrow Island, Broughton & Coniston, Central, Dalton North, Dalton South, Furness Peninsula, Hawcoat, Hindpool, Newbarns, Ormsgill, Parkside, Risedale, Roosecote, Ulverston East, Ulverston West, Walney North and Walney South.
