Paul Griffiths is our candidate in the Roosecote by-election for Barrow Borough Council on Thursday 6th May
I am Paul Griffiths, a candidate in the Council by election on 6 May. I am the only candidate who lives in Roosecote
Five generations of my family have lived in this area and I have lived here for over 50 years. I hope you will consider voting for me so that I can use my knowledge of the area to help our community going forward.
I joined the Labour Party due to my personal experience of underfunded social care. Years of Tory government austerity hit too many services that our community relies on.
When Covid hit, I was concerned that people in our community might be isolated and need support. Last year, I set up an online group, which you may be a member of, called Roosecote Community Hub which quickly expanded and became a valued local asset thanks to the support of residents.
Listening to people’s concerns and working with various organisations to help address those concerns, inspired me to go a bit further. The effects of Covid will last for some time. We need to plan ahead to make sure none of our community, residents and businesses, are left behind.
Councillors have a role to play supporting communities beyond voting in the Town Hall. We need to listen to people, support local groups and be prepared to work with partners for our community. The Roosecote Community Hub has collectively done so much good work to date, I hope, if elected as Councillor, we can all build on those foundations.
I would be honoured to represent you and all of Roosecote on the Council. I hope you will consider casting your vote for me, the only local candidate, on 6 May.
Thanks
Paul Griffiths
