Local councillors and mental health organisations have come together to help spread hope for This year’s World Suicide Prevention Day.
Councillor Iain Mooney and Michael Cassells of Every life Matters have been meeting to spread awareness and look towards future collaborations between Barrow Borough Council and Every Life Matters.
Councillor Iain Mooney said, “this year has taken its toll on everyone. Lockdown has presented increased isolation and anxiety.
“Sadly, we have seen more suicides and suicide attempts over the last few months as a result of this.
“This year we are spreading a message of hope. Things can and will get better, for us all. We are lucky to have some amazing services here in Barrow and Furness, with dedicated professionals working hard 24/7.”
Every Life Matters is asking people to join in with people the world over and light a candle at 8pm on 10th September near a window to remember those who we have lost and show support for suicide prevention.
